Whistlebowing Website in Australia

Biblia, the Warrior writes “The Sydney Morning Herald reports “The internet [sic] could become even more difficult for governments to regulate with a new website, Wikileaks, promising to provide a safe haven for whistleblowers to upload confidential documents …”

Thank goodness someone has finally found a useful purpose for the Internet (email, discussion groups, access to information, software download capabilities, free online games, etc not withstanding, of course)!

Interesting comment in the report by Kim Sawyer, an associate professor at the University of Melbourne and the vice-president of Whistleblowers Australia. She said (amongst other things) “… whistleblower protection laws were “just cosmetic …” which is widely acknowledged here in Australia. What’s the story in other parts of the world?
