Libraries of the future in India

One From India where Originally meant for Cold War cultural diplomacy, today they’re more likely to be required to serve British commercial interests by teaching English. It’s also possible that foreign governments are wondering why they need to keep funding public libraries in a country like India which is so busy hyping its emerging superpower status. Surely Indians can fund their own libraries then?

All of which may be true but it has hardly cushioned the shock for users of the axed institutions. They’ve been made acutely aware of their dependence on the library and the lack of alternatives. The government’s public library system seems stagnant.
