PLA Program on IF: Interesting To Note

Anonymous Patron writes “The Public Library Association conference in Seattle in Feb. has a number of interesting pre-conference programs, including this one: “Defending Access With Confidence: A Practical Workshop on Intellectual Freedom.” The program inlcudes, “Dealing with a challenge, whether it’s a controversial book or full access to the Internet…Organizer and Presenter:

    Censoring by libraries or librarians.
    The difficulty is that if the library or a librarian does the censoring, the challenging of that particular kind of abridgement of intellectual freedom by library users/clientele is not given due process.
