    where’s the story?
    I’m not an Aiken fan but this seems like a hit piece. Where’s the original story this editorial is based on? If no one talked about it then where is the writer getting all the details?

    And to be honest this has nothing to do with free speech. Its only a free speech issue if the indivdual in question has the actual ability to influence or punish you for voicing your thoughts. Simply because some idiot uses *his own rights of free speech* to say incredibly retarded things is hardly a reason to break out the 1st Amendment.

    I know a lotta people aren’t gonna believe this, but I’m gonna go with GregS* on this one. I don’t know how much of this article was true and there’s absolutely nothing I can find to corrorborate it.

    I thought everybody already knew that Clay Aiken is incredibly stupid, at least musically. Over reprocessed love songs aren’t exactly the best in musical rep. And that one song “If I Were Invisible” or whatever, I’ve never heard so good a song about stalking someone since “Every Breath You Take.” And I have to question some of the things in this article too. Aiken is a teacher himself, specifically special education. So if he did treat teachers like that, I hope it’s well remembered when he returns to the profession. And I think he will at some point. His songs aren’t exactly high art and the American public is extremely fickle about pop music. What’s big today is gone tomorrow.

    Besides, if the students actually hung around to be treated like shit, then that’s their thing. I worked stage crew in high school, and became a theatre tech. I remember one performance where the principal tried to use his position to forcibly take over how things went with the show. The entire crew faced off with him and told him that if he didn’t stop acting like an asshat, not only would we abandon the show, we’d make damned sure that the stage wasn’t functional when we bailed. He backed off, and left. And the show went on.

    It’s called juevos and all it takes to stand up to some putz who thinks he’s better than you is to walk off and leave ’em hanging.
