    If she killed him off she’d be hated forever. There’s a lot of realism in her books but a lot of hope too, so I don’t think she would end things on that kind of a note anyway.

    She keeps saying the 2nd book, Chamber of Secrets holds a lot of clues to the end. I’m going to have to give it a reread.

    She also says there is a significance to Dumbledore not killing Voldemort in the most recent book. My guess would be that’s Harry’s job.

    If she kills Harry off, it will be a pretty clear indication that she has never read Misery, by Stephen King.

    GregS*, I’m with you – it would really be horrible for all the younger generation to have this particular hero killed off – way too nihilistic! I really think it could do some sort of collective psychological damage to have evil overcome good within this series.

    Thus far, I have yet to reread any of the books, but “never say never”…does rewatching the movies over and over count? 😉

    The only caveat I’ll give is that she’s British, and for all our two countries have in common there are certain cultural differences. Enough so I’ll admit to the possibility thats something she would do. Let’s face it, we’re SNL, their Monty Python.

    The movies? while fun, unfortunetly not very informative.

    Though I’m not a betting kind of gal, I don’t think Rowlings will follow in the Python’s foot steps (slitherings?), but what do I know? I’m rather divided when it comes to SNL and Monty Python. Monty Python was my mother’s milk way before SNL came of age. 😉
