University of Utah Goes Crazy, Offers “customer-focused” Services

Interesting Move by The J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah. They are now offering three new services for easy access to the collections: A pull service, a document delivery service, and the automated retrieval center (ARC). Can’t you just imagine how those meetings went:

Librarian with the idea: “Here’s a great idea that will really help our patrons….an automated retrieval center….”
Everyone else: “GASP…. stunned silence… We can’t do that!!!
[Followed by 2 hours of how it will take too much work, won’t work, and/or will cost too much]”
