The Great Library Heist

Interesting Political Story out of Springfield, no, not That One, the one in Massachusetts.
They say the Springfield Library and Museums Association wants to throw the library out of its stately building. In an action critics say is like a bank robbery in broad daylight, the SLMA is threatening to turn the building into a museum, which would force the city to pay millions of dollars for a new library.

It’s not clear how long the plan to turn the library into a museum has been in the works. News of it began to filter through to the public in mid-December, when City Auditor Tony Basile warned the City Council that the SLMA was floating the idea of “vacating the main library in three years.” Basile had stumbled on the SLMA’s plan during a routine review of proposed lease agreements with the city.
