Students Check out Web Instead of Library

Bob Cox gives us ” this piece from theMinneapolis-St. Paul Star-Tribune about a familiar librarian lament. In looking at the University of Minnesota library statistics for 2002-03, it was discovered that circulation was down by over 200,000 items. University librarian Jerilyn Veldof said, ‘We get students who are proud of the fact that they are seniors and have never been in the library.’ Veldof has been charged with creating and implementing initiatives to increase use of the undergraduate library.
