Libraries across Bracknell Forest are facing unprecedented closures due to a battle with staff shortages.
The smaller library branches, such as Whitegrove and Ascot Heath, could be worst hit when left with no alternative but to close for certain parts of the day.
Bracknell Forest libraries assistant director Alison Fletcher said: “Unfortunately there are occasionally times when we have to close a branch for a few hours because of unplanned staff absence.
