Arkansas comic book law

Michael Nellis writes:
“The First Amendment Center has an article on reactions to and a law suit against the anti-comic book code. Proponents of this censorship are heaping derision on the idea that the law might be abused to invoke censorship, of course.

Most Asinine Quote Award goes to: Sen. David Bisbee, R-Rogers. “We’re not talking about novels. Boys aren’t going to stand at a book counter and read a book that doesn’t have pictures in it. They can make good points, but people with common sense know what this refers to.”

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any people with common sense in public office. Boys do read novels, for one thing. I guess this self-righteous and self-import pompous ass has never heard of Harry Potter. Perhaps his attitude is merely a matter of projection.”
