“Black-clad art students smoking black cigarettes massed on the sidewalk when a “pop culture” class erupted into a full-blown demonstration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco on Wednesday.

Just under 100 students were joined on the downtown sidewalk by a group of nationally known authors who gathered to support freedom of expression and to protest the recent expulsion of a student and dismissal of a teacher.

Teacher Alan Kaufman unfurled a sign reading “Freedom Class” and passed out yellow flyers announcing a “Peaceful Walk Out” for Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.”

Good to see campus uprisings again. Even if not all were black cigarette smoking, black clad students…
