Police seek motive in library stabbing

The library was quiet and peaceful as usual Monday afternoon as Jan Silver sifted through books and her daughter Jennifer softly tapped the keys on a nearby computer.

Then, Daniel Weiss broke the silence. The director of the Fanwood (NJ) Memorial Library, Weiss, 53, burst through the double doors just after 5 p.m. with blood streaming from his neck, said Silver, a borough resident.
