More School Library Positions Slashed in Ohio

Brian G. writes “According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the Canton City Schools (Canton, Ohio) are considering cutting 15 elementary librarians as part of the solution to save $4 million next year. Options being explored include using County librarians, using volunteers, locating federal funds to assist, or circulating books on carts throughout the schools. The school social workers are also getting cut.

What are we left with…kids who cannot read about their problems or ask for help!”
