Strange One Out Of Indiana where a judge has thrown out a prisoner’s lawsuit blaming a library’s security for the child molesting he committed.
He claimed that the 4-year-old victim would not have been hurt if security guards had confronted him or called police after observing him in an unauthorized area of the St. Joseph County Public Library before the molestation.
Blame his mother
He should blame his mother for giving birth to him. None of this would have happened.
Re:Blame his mother
In that case, maybe she should have had an abortion? That would’ve solved the problem, too.
Responsibility could make the world a better place
If only people would take personal responsibility for their actions.
On the narrow subject of “If someone had done X, I wouldn’t have committed crime Y”, I can’t blame this guy too badly. Avoiding personal responsibility is deeply ingrained in our society from the highest levels right down to “I wouldn’t have hit you if you hadn’t cussed at me” or “I wouldn’t have gained all this weight if your fast food place didn’t have a supersize menu.”
There’s a great Mercedes Lackey novel, whose title escapes me, that ends with a very wicked incestous abuser being locked into an illusion where he is the abused party. The spell is crafted so that if he ever takes responsibility for his own actions, the punishment will end. The book ends with him still insisting that it was society, his own parents, his children, anything but him that made him torture his own daughter.
I’d like to see a similar punishment visited on this molestor, but the degree of technology needed would no doubt be used on innocent and guilty alike.
