James Nimmo notes an AP Article that says the Center for Democracy, the American Civil Liberties Union, & Technology & a PA ISP have sued Pennsylvania’s attorney general Tuesday, claiming his tactics to stop child pornography also cut subscribers across the country from legitimate Web sites.
The groups, in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, accused Attorney General Mike Fisher of creating a “system of secret censorship” that goes unchecked by state courts.
“Child pornography has no place in a civilized society. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania’s Web-blocking law does little to stop child pornography but does a great deal to violate the protections of the First Amendment,” said Alan Davidson, associate director of the Center for Democracy & Technology in Washington, D.C.
The bug in my britches . . .
What I find really stinks in this movement, is that Fisher has summarily ruled that even any mention of a site that carries kiddie-porn, itself constitutes child pornography. As I wrote in a comment to an entry at my site for 04 April:
I have no doubt that idiots like that would ban paper bags the way the Taliban did. Come to that, how about those pictures on milk cartons; since they are openly and freely accessible to pedophiles, doesn’t that make them kiddie-porn too?
