Some things in this article make me weep …
I’ve written a blog on this, which you can find
here. But in short, this story makes me weep because it’s based on and repeats the common misconception of Google Print as a collection rather than an index, and that misconception is leading people into some potentially very bad ideas — such as the suggestion that libraries should now abandon their own digitisation projects.
My own feeling is that GP is great, and will be great for libraries, but it will not be anywhere near the be-all and end-all of digital libraries.
