    If this is succesful for Wal-Mart and for Garth Brooks other stores and artists may try this as well. It might also spread outside of the music realm and carry over to authors. Due to the limited competition arguable the price of artists and authors works will be higher. In this case it was the artists that wanted to do the exclusive deal. It is there music can they not do want they want with it?

    WalMart was not the first to do this. Best Buy signed the Rolling Stones to an exclusive deal for one of their albums. The difference with Brooks is that it is for all his works if I read the article correctly.

    They can do what they like but I’m sure it just comes back and bites them in the ass.
    Certainly not something to do to your fans, kind of goes against the idea of selling really.
    Going to be a boon to the used-cd market though.

    Sounds like an expansion of what some artists do with Starbucks already. Not that I approve of that if you look at it from a fan point of view, but it seems like a trend moving along.

    Your observation about the used CD market is kind of funny, in light of all the noise Garth Brooks made in the mid-1990s, advocating that selling used CDs be outlawed altogether.
