Exhibit shows old, unloved library books in a new way

Let’s face it: Even the most popular libraries have some books on the back shelves or in the basement that no one ever wants to read.

At the Bloomfield Township Public Library, Karen Imarisio decided to do something creative with those books: turn them into art. The result is an exhibit of 60 works made from books opening today at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center and the Cranbrook Art Academy’s student gallery. It’s titled “Un-shelved: An Altered Book Project.”
