    She is right about it not replacing the common or garden book (after all are you just as likely to take 3 inch thick medical tomes into the bath with you) especially novels which are eluded to .

    But you can take your computer to the beach, read it in the bath or bed. Now whether you actually want to or are willing to take the risk of the damage you might inflict it is another matter.

    It’s not as easy as a paperback but I can say personally that I got into reading Harry Potter by reading downloaded text versions and reading them on my pc.

    Right just like I am readin the article on paper right now. Oh wait, I am reading it on a computer screen.


    There is something about having a book in your hand, being able to turn back a few pages and check some information.

    Yes like when you have a paper book and you know there is a sentence you want to find but it happens to be more than just a few pages back. You search and search and never find the sentence even after rereading whole chapters and waasting an hour. No one would possibly want to be able to run a “find” search on a book.

    Plus, you can’t take a computer to the beach, you can’t sit in your bathtub and read from a computer screen, you can’t take a computer to bed and read

    Wrong, wrong, wrong. Like someone mentioned before there is nothing stopping you from taking your laptop. People also have tablet PCs now so you can even go one step better than a laptop for reading. But there are other electronic options. There are thousands of books available at Palm Digital Media. All the major paperback bestsellers are available so you are not stuck just reading Project Gutenberg text. You can even go out and read with you Palm Pilot on an air mattress and not have to worry about the water.
