E-textbooks Revitalizing Math Curriculum

Here’s a story about a Cranbury, NJ school district that’s trying to further engage math students by offering dynamic content through e-textbooks.

Students in grades three through five are using the new Houghton Mifflin Mathematics program that includes both traditional texts and eBooks to be used on home or school computers.

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students are now using Impact, a math curriculum developed by Glencoe, a mathematics textbook company, that gives students passwords to access their textbook and supplemental material via the Internet….

“If a kid doesn’t understand something in a problem, they can get hints and are able to go over it again. The same way, if they comprehend a lesson, they can go through each lesson topic by topic,” math teacher Linda Penney said.
