nbruce writes “The Feb. 13 USAToday reviewed recently released DVDs, including “Stone Reader” giving it 3.5 stars. Calling it “the all-time movie for book junkies” it is about film maker Mark Moskowitz’s odyssey to find fogotten author, Dow Mossman, author of “The Stones of Summer.”
Recommendations of the movie and book at the Barnes and Noble site.”
Stone Reader
I have seen this documentary and it is excellent. All librarians should watch this movie. Here are some options for obtaining the movie. If you subscribe to Netflix they have the movie. In addition to Barnes and Nobles and Amazon, the director has his own website http://www.stonereader.net At the directors website you can purchase the three disk set. One disk is the movie and the other two are special features. Barnes and Nobles is selling the one disk set. Amazon the two disk set and at the director’s site you can buy the three disk set.
Netflix will have Stone Reader available on Feb.17th. That is the same day that Amazon will start selling the two disk set. The single disk from Barnes and Noble can be purchased today. I bought a copy of the movie from them over a month ago.
The director of the movie also has a second website called http://www.lostbooksclub.org The director created this website to start an organization that would find books that were out of print and becoming scarce and work to make them available again.
