A hot new book doesn’t have to come with a high price tag for Dallas residents who are looking to save cash in this tough economy.
The Dallas Public Library has launched a new program called the StreetSmart Express that lets people check out popular books and DVDs for $5 each. Other items can still be checked out by Dallas residents at no cost.
Dallas libraries let you pay to check out hot titles
Our libraries in Los Angeles have been doing this for more than 15 years…
It is called a Rental Collection. It is run by the Friends of the Library and they charge 25 cents per day or $1.00 per week.
At one time they made quite a bit of money which was used to purchase other library materials.
We seem to not be making as much as before, but that has many contributing factors; too many older titles in the collection, not collecting for lost or overdue materials, and the severe lack of new bestselling titles.
Redbox $1 (DVDs)
Go to the library and pay $5 for DVDs or find the closest RedBox and pay $1. Nothing against libraries but if money is really tight save the additional $4. http://www.redbox.com
