Book banning creates ignorance, not solutions

“When a controversial book is taken off the shelves, the empty space is not filled with another. Instead, ignorance takes its place.”

“Book banning became common in the 1980s as an easy solution to deal with literature that expresses unorthodox or untraditional viewpoints. The idea is simple: If a book contains references to sex or drugs, evolution without mention of creation, women who behave in unconventional ways, children purposely challenging parents or authority, or anything that can be deemed “offensive,” then the book can be banned.” (from The Oregonian)
