I am more and more often involved in website (re)designs projects, where teams are struggling with navigation and structuring.
Often they haven’t given much thought to the website structure and now are forced to redesign after complaints.
I usually point out to basic articles on taxonomies and facet classification. Facet classification is very suited for structuring websites.

Dennie, thanks for posting this link. It’s such an important part of today’s corporate libraries and information centers to consider this component before worrying about ‘flashing’ up their websites for upper management. And most of the references are available electronically, so its even more convenient.
