When can educators make recordings of kids’ books?

One of our teachers received a grant to buy iPods to record her reading children’s books. She plans to share the recordings with her students so they can follow along with the stories. Although audio versions of the books can be purchased from iTunes, is this a fair use?

    No it’s not
    but as they say it’s technically a break that noone really cares about, although don’t be surprised if someone decides to make it an issue somewhere at sometime for someone. Maybe the money given could/should have been used for the official audio books? Save a lot of time and effort and end up with a better product as well.

    And the question under that fails to mention that although the videos might be covered by copyright if they are made by the person uploading it the music used isn’t their copyright so the uploadser could be commiting a copyright offence as well.
