…asks the Telegraph-UK of those about to go off on holiday.
According to the article, holidays begin “a few days previously – with a visit to the bookshop and a luxurious half-hour browsing the shelves. This is the opportunity to invest in that doorstopping novel that came so close to winning the Booker; to pick up a complex, absorbing Victorian classic that you could never get properly involved with in those bursts of 10 minutes before lights out…”
Find your category, pack your bags (with a book or two) and have a great holiday!
They left some out
I’m a fast reader, so I either have to pick up a large book (Dr. Strange would do) or move back a couple of centuries. I find that 18th C prose slows me down nicely.
Re:They left some out
They did leave quite a few types out, but I did like the one of the airport shopper, whose panicky selection turns out to be the best book anyone brought. As for me, I can be fast or slow depending on the pacing of the book. I read a lot according to mood, so the types described are not really me. I don’t lend books much for example. I do bookcross, but that is a separate story. Anyhow, it is an interesting little piece.

What about the “Won’t Read That Because Everyone Else is Reading It”, i.e. the “Leave Me to My Obscure Lil’ Book” person, which is me.
You’ll more likely find me reading a non-fiction book about silent film, instead of the Da Vinci Code .
Very, very sad.
