W3C urges for standards-based submission; phooey to Fed info policy

SeanC writes “On August 22, 2005, Tim Berner’s – Lee and Daniel J. Weitzner of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) delivered documented comments discouraging “the use of a single vendor’s World Wide Web browser” to sumbit forms to the Copyright Office.

Opponents say the move to a single vendor violates (among other things) the idea of standards based compliance. These recomendations are put forth in current Federal information policy, like the E-Government Act of 2002. The act encourages use of standards-based emerging technologies across government offices.
