UW Libraries recently received the 2004 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award

The UW Daily Online reports that ”
The UW Libraries recently received the 2004 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award for being one of the top research libraries in the country. The $3,000 prize accompanying the award, which is given to one library annually, will be spent on staff training and development. The national award recognizes UW Libraries not only for its experienced staff but technological innovation as well.”

    Which UW?
    I live half-way between two different UWs, and neither of them won this award. When posting geographically-specific articles like this, please try to be a little clearer in the front-page text where the story is taking place.

    Sorry! It was awarded to the UW Libraries system as a whole–I thought that was apparent from the quote and also from the article. As a former Washingtonian, I wasn’t too confused by it but thanks for letting me know.

    I guess I didn’t explain very clearly. I live halfway between the University of Windsor and the University of Waterloo, both of them are UWs. Neither of them is part of the “UW Libraries as a whole” that won the award. But congratulations to the University of Washington.

    D’oh! I’m sorry. I totally get it now… I guess since I’m from Washington state I just automatically think of UW as University of Washington. You’d think after living a few hours away from University of Wisconsin for the past two years I would learn my lesson. 🙂
