Anonymous Patron writes “AP Wire: A committee investigating plagiarism allegations against a University of Cincinnati librarian has recommended he be removed from the faculty of the German studies department and stripped of his title as director of the German-American studies program.
Don Heinrich Tolzmann said he plans to “vigorously defend” himself against the allegations in a meeting next month with Provost Anthony Perzigian.”
punishment
If it was a hot-shot and / or someone who gets guest spots on PBS you can bet your ass he’d just have to apologize, and not really even that.
You, Lawrence Tribe, I’m looking at you. And Dr. Kerns-Goodwin? Yes, you too.
But some lifer librarian in the ass-end of academia? That guy gets the hook? Hardly fair.
I submit that all faculty contracts should enclude a clause stating that any substantiated charge of plagiarism is punishable by immediate dismissal, regardless of rank or tenure-status.
Never happen. But still.
Hilarious!
I read of this at LISNEWS, always informative. I note it’s someone from a “European” Studies Department. If it was someone from an African-American Studies Department, it would be on page one or two of nearly every newspaper in the United States, intrepid Fox News commentators would be sounding the alarms, and the usual suspects at LISNEWS would be frantically posting, perhaps finding some linkage to abortion, online pornography, the minimum-wage debate, or colored folks moving into their neighborhoods.
