For the purists among you…
The Guardian’s Andrew Brown argues for reading (the usual left to right thing, as in a book): “The important fact about words is that they are almost the most efficient use of communication ever devised; and reading plain text is the fastest way to absorb them.”
Different types of learners
People learn in different ways. Many people are visual learners and many are auditory learners. In a perfect world quality information would be in a variety of formats. I know that for using computer software if I read a book about it I have a hard time comprehending what I need to do. If someone shows the process on the computer I pick it up much faster.
Reading is good but no need to overstate the issue.
