The high school book that’s wrong

The AP has an interesting look at James Agee’s “A Death in the Family.” First published in 1957, Agee died in 1955, he never lived to see the book win the Pulitzer Prize in 1958, or to see it become a staple on high school summer reading lists. He never even approved its final form.
Now Agee scholar Michael Lofaro says that “A Death in the Family” was pulled together by a misguided editor whose final version does not match Agee’s intentions.
