Not all librarians are spring chickens, there are in fact more than few “Freds.” Interesting story from the Ottawa Citizen about the education of a young librarian.
Do you work with a “Fred”? Tell us about him/her…psuedonyms please.

a theory of Freds
Most of the Freds and demi-Freds I’ve worked with are sad and pathetic rather than grouchy and territorial. I mean, they are those things too. The two or three I’m thinking of have no family, no life and nothing about their job to get excited about. If their kingdom is sacked they really will have nothing.
Still hateful though.
Re:a theory of Freds
I’ve worked with an older gentleman who was not a “Fred” as in this article; he was very competent at his work. However, he had these quaint characteristics, such as his suits, which appeared to have all been acquired in the early 70s, and his eagerness to share microfiche copies of the LCSH…..
I’m not a Fred, but I play one on tv
I named by blog Fred 2.0 in honour of Fred Kilgour. Does that count?
