Teen spirit: Judy Bloom On Forever

tncorgi points us to an Interview With Judy Bloom. Thirty years on from its publication, Forever, Judy Blume’s candid portrayal of a teenage sexual relationship, is still causing controversy. Sarah Crown talks to the author about censorship, the current climate of sexual fear and why the book remains as popular now as it was in 1975.
They say a Texan librarian is currently campaigning to have Forever taken off the shelves of every school library in the state.

    Hmmm
    Not to be a naysayer, but in searching, I haven’t found any mention of the unnamed Texas librarian who’s allegedly trying to get this booked banned. Anyone have better information?

    All I got was a hit to an article or something from 2002 (got the same hit at Yahoo!). The newspaper requires registration, though, and I don’t see that as worth the bother.

    That’s probably not it, Cached Copy Is Readable and doesn’t seem like her. I did some searching as well and didn’t spot anything. My guess is reporter error. I put that line in there hoping someone else could turn something up, I tried when I posted the story as well, and couldn’t find anything.

    Too bad
    Well that’s boring. I was all set to blame Laura Bush. I mean, the Left pretty much leaves her alone and hasn’t tried to savage her the way the Right did Hillary. But, then again, the fact that it isn’t true shouldn’t stop me…..
