Survivor: The History of the Library originally appeared in History Magazine’s October/November 2001 issue. Author Barbara Krasner-Khait says libraries may have changed over the years – no longer do pages carry scrolls in wooden buckets – but the need for a repository of knowledge remains.
I don’t know about you, but I’d like to see a few more buckets in libraries now.
