People hate adsense and don’t like to look at it on blogs.
My experience is that Adsense is very unpopular on many sites. People don’t like looking at ads on sites. Some bloggers won’t use Adsense because they lose lots of traffic. I think the higher prices are because they can’t get huge numbers of people to put up google ads for very cheap prices anymore. If you earn 5 cents per click, you have to have a hundred people click on your ad to make $5.00. If only one out of 100 people who visits your blog clicks on the ad, You need 10,000 people to visit your blog before before you make $5.00. A top site gets 10,000 clicks per day. $5.00 is not very much. Google needs to charge a lot more money.
