Stoneham (MA) Library and Stoneham Theatre

Joanne Barrett writes “In conjunction with The Stoneham Library Community Reads book selection Mary McGarry Morris’ THE LOST MOTHER and Stoneham Theatre’s production THE GRAPES OF WRATH, which runs March 1 — 18, Stoneham Theatre and The Stoneham Library have spearheaded a collaboration titled Perseverance: A Celebration of the American Spirit in the 1930’s: A series of performances and events to highlight the lives and experiences of Americans during the Great Depression and to promote literacy and reading. Eight community institutions (Stoneham Public Schools, The Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester), Stoneham Cultural Council, Stoneham Senior Center, Stoneham Cable Access, Stoneham Historical Society, Stoneham Independent, Stoneham Chamber of Commerce) will present events in February and March 2007 including Community Reads (The Grapes of Wrath, The Lost Mother by the acclaimed author Mary McGary Morris of Andover, MA), Mary McGary Morris talkbacks, Special Exhibit By The Griffin Museum (Winchester native and former Globe photographer) at The Gallery at the Stoneham Theatre, Discounted The Grapes of Wrath Student Matinees, Senior High Students to Senior Citizen Interviews, Folk Concerts by Jeff Warner, and much more. Corporate sponsors, Citizens Bank and Comcast, have partially funded specific events as well.
