Another Punny Librarian Headline. University of Wyoming science library head David Kruger. Kruger is the head of the science library at the University of Wyoming but was hired a mere four days before his Army Reserve Unit of combat engineers was called to train troops in South Dakota. Shelving books and shushing loud college students gave way to teaching soldiers —the majority of whom will serve in Iraq — how to blow up obstacles, build bridges by hand and lay razor wire. Kruger taught “21 Bravo� skills for a year to about 1,000 men before returning to the peace of academia.

“The irony for me, as a librarian, stereotypically, I like silence and tell people to be quiet,� Kruger said. “But the reason I didn’t go to Iraq is because of my involvement in education.�
