Sharp Shows Prototype Color eBook

Anonymous Patron writes “Gizmodo has some Coverage of Sharp who has shown a prototype eBook reader with a screen that is only 1mm thick — inside the transparent plastic case that is obviously much thicker. The one picture they have makes it look very Star Trek. “

    Ok, it it is an ebook what book is it? Is it “Moby Dick”, “Blink”, or “Wuthering Heights”?

    Oh, it can read any book that you put on it. Then wouldn’t it be an ebook reader not an ebook? Sorry for the semantics but if you call this device by Sharp and ebook than my desktop PC is an ebook also. I think it would be fair to call both electronic book readers.

    There is a good point at the end of the article, Of course, until any of these readers allow us to add our own DRM-free eBooks, they will continue to be amusing but frustrating additions — but not replacements — to regular old paper books.

    In this statement at the end they do call the device a “reader”. I was more pointing out the quote because of the comment on DRM. That comment is very true.

    Last point: It does look cool.

    The headline no longer says Sharps Shows Prototype Color eBook. LISNews really is untrammeled by editors or the rules of grammar, and probably is unpublishable as well.

    And yes, it really does look cool!
