Daniel writes “The technology podcast For Immediate Release show 42 has an interesting discussion on online font readability starting at 15min 2 sec:
15:02 Serif or sans-serif fonts? What’s best for reading, in print and on-screen?
Note that you’ll have to fast-forward to the font discussion.”
Serif vs. Sans-Serif
That podcast doesn’t impress me much, but let me point out a recent study…
From North American Journal of Psychology; 2005, Vol. 7 Issue 2, p181, 8p, in an article entitled “The Influence of Font Type on Information Recall”…
149 college students were given an article on tuberculosis printed in various fonts and tested on their recall of the article
Conclusion: 9% increase in recall when serif fonts were used. Specifically there was increased recall using both 12-point Courier and 12-point Palatino.
