Screens to hide porn at Arizona libraries

Anonymous Patron writes “www.azstarnet.com: The Tucson-Pima Public Library will install privacy screens around its computers so passers-by won’t be exposed to pornography.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors adopted that policy on Tuesday in response to concerns about viewing of online pornography at library branches.
But they postponed a decision on whether to require the use of filters on all computers, instead of just children’s computers. They want to create a committee to study the issue, but they set no deadline for recommendations.”

    About time
    Librarians are so concerned with privacy that you think we’d have put privacy screens on computer monitors a long time ago. Who wants everyone walking by looking at your miniscule checking account balance as you do your banking, or reading over your shoulder the page about toenail fungus you’re looking at… much less porn.

    I can’t imagine how reading over a shoulder would be stopped by a privacy screen.
