Scottish library to buy literary treasure trove

The seventh John Murray, who sold the business two years ago, has offered this astonishing archive to the country for $61 million US. …
Murray says none of the money will go to any family member. Rather, $5.6 million would endow the archive immediately and the rest would go into a charitable trust to expand and preserve the collection, maintain the London house and support other causes. Read the rest here.”

    For only 33 million pounds…
    Not a bad deal whatsoever. I am especially impressed that the money is to be used for support and maintenance of the donation. Not all gift collections are set up with such financial backing in mind. Such is to be encouraged.
