Salinas Students Protest “Death” with Black Arm bands

Search engines web sends news about youth protest over the proposed Salinas (CA) library closings.

Students are planning to wear black arm bands to school next week to protest what they call the death of Salinas libraries.

City officials are expected to vote on Tuesday whether to close the city’s libraries.

Students at North Salinas High School have been writing letters to the mayor and City Council telling them not to close the libraries. The students say that while they’re not yet old enough to vote, wearing black arm bands is their way of making their voices heard.

“I plan on wearing an arm band. I want the library to stay. It’s ridiculous that they’re closing them … they need to stay,” student Cody Boyster said.
