Salinas Library System to Shut Down — Permanently

ffirehorse writes “Salinas (CA) will soon be the largest city west of the Mississippi without a public library, since voters there this month rejected measures that would have raised taxes to keep the libraries open. One patron was quoted as saying, ‘We come here all the time, my kids love it, and I’m a big reader myself. But I’m not sure the money is always being spent wisely. I can’t believe that everything has been exhausted. If they have to close, so be it. Maybe they can just open one day a week.’ Here’s the link.”
