Rare Religious Books Stolen in Utah Found

Police arrested a man Friday and recovered 11 of 13 rare religious books stolen this week from the Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum.

A bookseller’s call led police to two of the works, said Utah Department of Public Safety Lt. Tony Garcia.

Brett Eborn, owner of Eborn Books, told investigators he paid $11,000 for two first-edition copies of the Book of Mormon, Garcia said. He also gave police the seller’s name. Officers traced the man’s drivers license number and then staked out a home, where they made the arrest and recovered nine more books.
