Quick demographics & maps for Congressional Districts

Daniel writes “If you have patrons who often write to Congress, try steering them to the Fast Facts for Congress
website (http://fastfacts.census.gov). This site has congressional district maps posted with the names of the representative or senator along with the district number on the page.

In addition to these reference maps, you can easily generate maps and tables of population density, race, average income, commuting-to-work times and more!

Think of how your patrons’ letters could be juiced up with lines like “I support light rail because it would reduce your constituients’ average commuting time, currently at 50min.” Or “54% of the families in your district have incomes under $20,000, so I’m urging you to vote for an increased Earned Income Credit.””
