Pew Internet study finds that users are putting their trust in search engines

A nationwide survey of 1,399 Internet users found that 92 percent of online Americans expressed confidence in their skills as searchers, with over half of them saying they are “very confident they can accomplish what they want when they perform an online search. The average searcher scrolls through only 1.8 results pages during a typical search. The report also suggests that users feel they are finding good information online; more than two-thirds of search engine users (68 percent) say they consider search engines a “fair and unbiased source of information, even though nearly half the searches include sponsored results.
