Pros, Cons Of Controversial Library Books Aired At Public Meeting

When was the last time you had over 300 people at a board meeting? The Morning News reports For two hours, Fayetteville School Board members listened to the pleas from those who want 58 books, labeled as “pornographic” and “promoting homosexuality,” removed from student access and those who think the district’s 20-year-old policy on library books should be followed.

The board is expected to decide its future course during a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

“We are for parental notification,” Fallen said. “Does that mean the rest of you don’t care what your children are exposed to by some far-fetched librarian because they are the adults and they are the professionals?”
