Proposals sought to make library more efficient

Companies, cities, school districts and other organizations can submit proposals this week outlining how they would run the Bedford Texas public library.

If Bedford officials decide to outsource library management, another entity would run day-to-day operations; the city would still own the building and collection and set policy.

The deadline for proposals is Aug. 1. The Bedford Public Library will submit a proposal.

Dozens of residents have spoken out against the idea, and the library advisory board passed a resolution opposing it. More @ Star-Telegram.
