Potter book just too big

Anonymous Patron sends “this story from the Winnepeg Sun about a Canadian printer who is unable to run the latest JK Rowling book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, on his press because the job would overburden his press. There are over a million copies of the title on order, all of which will be printed by larger American presses.

I hope that Raincoast is still the Canadian publisher, and that we still get the UK/Commonwealth covers on ours.

Well from that article it looks like all the North American ones will be done in the US.
I know there are rumours of Dumbledore being killed off as lots of bets have been placed in the town where the UK printing is done.

Back in 1998, when I was an elementary school media specialist, I had subscribed to some plan that would send me x number of children’s fiction books per month. I then ordered a bunch of books from Library Journal’s Best of. I ended up with two copies of some book called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. My first thought when I realized it was that I wondered if anyone would ever read them.

I quit worrying about that a long time ago.

Well, they’re all being _printed_ in the US. When I first saw the headline, I wondered about Raincoast, but the article itself is talking about the printer, which I’ve never noticed before. They could very well be printing different editions for the two markets on the same presses. One can only hope.

For a month or so after the first publication of Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone. It did take a little bit of time for a children’s book by an unknown author to become an international bestseller.

I hadn’t even heard of Harry Potter until the second book was already out and the 3rd was within 3-4 months of coming out.

The English covers have an older appeal to them but the American ones have little spoilers spread around which are much more fun.
