Pennsylvania Faculty Contract Dispute Escalating

AshtabulaGuy writes “The contract dispute between the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (of which academic librarians are part) continues to escalate. Akilah Imani Nelson writes in the Chambersburg Public Opinion that students at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, one of the 14 institutions that make up the State System of Higher Education, has warned students that a strike is possible. Shippensburg sent e-mail to students to indicate that a disruption may occur that results in a postponement of spring semester proceedings. Such a stance conflicts with that held by another system institution, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, as shown here. As reported in the Valley Independent, the situation as a whole is expected to come to a major decision-making point for the union on January 16th.
